Join Dr. Matthew Kane, the founder of Prodigy Intelligence, and developer of Coyote a deception detection software that uses artificial intelligence. Dr. Kane is an expert on all things deception. He is a former Canadian military intelligence officer who holds a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Psychology where he studied how people lie and wrote his thesis on training people to recognize when people were lying. GUEST SPEAKER:

Matthew, born in Ottawa, Ontario, had a childhood marked by both joy and profound loss. The early passing of his mother from cancer, followed by his father’s destructive path of addiction and abuse, shaped his resilience and determination. At 15, a harrowing escape from a life-threatening situation propelled Matthew and his sister into foster care.
His foster father’s support led Matthew to join the military at 17. Excelling as a Naval mechanic, his natural leadership and language skills opened the door to Military Intelligence. Matthew’s intelligence work spanned international counter-terrorism, anti-piracy, and anti-smuggling operations. His final military role saw him leading a cell against Taliban IED networks. In 2014, injuries sustained in the War on Terror led to his honorable discharge.
Undeterred, Matthew pursued higher education. He earned a Master’s in Psychology, specializing in deception detection, followed by a Ph.D. in 2018, with a thesis focused on deception detection training. In the same year, he founded Prodigy Intelligence, offering training and consulting on cutting-edge intelligence techniques. The COVID-19 pandemic spurred Prodigy to pivot into Artificial Intelligence, creating their groundbreaking deception-detection AI, Coyote. Matthew now leads Prodigy Intelligence in its growth, while remaining dedicated to his vibrant Metro Vancouver community.
