Our Awards

CGIC Celebrates Member Achievements

The Chartered Governance Institute of Canada has established three member awards to recognize and celebrate member achievement:

  • Distinguished Professional Service Award
  • Rising Star Award
  • Outstanding Branch Member Award

Nominations are always welcome with an annual deadline of March 31st. Awards are presented annually at the CGIC National AGM.


Distinguished Professional Service Award

The Distinguished Professional Service Award was established in 1955 for the purpose of recognizing outstanding contributions to the Governance profession.

Rising Star Award

Introduced in 2017, the Rising Star Award is granted to a member showing significant career potential within the first 5 years of achieving Associate Chartered status. It can be awarded at any stage of a member’s career path.

Outstanding Branch Member Award

Introduced in 2018, the Outstanding Branch Member Award recognizes a member whose contributions within their Branch are significant and noteworthy.

Branch Councils wishing to nominate an Outstanding Branch Member should reach out to the National Office for a copy of the nomination form.
