Dr. William R. Holmes, DBA, MBA, MA, CPA, CPHR, FCG, Acc.Dir, ICD.D

Dr. William Holmes is a passionate educator and governance professional currently teaching and researching in the areas of strategy and corporate governance as a Professor in the School of Business at Royal Roads University. He has served as Vice-President Academic & Provost and Dean of the Faculty of Management at Royal Roads University and previously worked at Sheridan College in Toronto, first as Dean of the School of Business and then as Vice Provost. He has held positions as Adjunct Professor and Executive Director of the Undergraduate Program in Business at Simon Fraser University and as Instructional Manager of the Business Division at the Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates.

Holmes holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Southern Queensland, MBA from the University of British Columbia, MA in Philosophy from the University of Waterloo, and undergraduate degrees in Philosophy and Economics, also from Waterloo. He also holds professional designations in accounting (CPA), human resources (CPHR, CHRL), and governance (FCG, ICD.D).

Holmes has served on the Boards of Governors of Royal Roads University and Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning and on the Boards of Directors of the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada, the Minerva Safety Education Council of Canada, and the NAFSA Association of International Educators. His career spans corporate and educational sectors and has included assignments in Canada, Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.
