Dr. William R. Holmes, CPA, FCG, Acc.Dir., ICD.D

Dr. William Holmes is an Associate Professor in the School of Business at Royal Roads University where he has also served as Vice-President Academic & Provost (Interim) and Dean, Faculty of Management. He has held positions at the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, first as Dean, Faculty of Business and then as Vice Provost. He has also served as Adjunct Professor and Executive Director of the Undergraduate Program in Business at Simon Fraser University, and as the Instructional Manager (Dean) of Business for the Higher Colleges of Technology, a network of colleges in the United Arab Emirates. Prior to his academic career, Holmes worked in Toronto in Corporate Trust, Corporate Services, and Stock and Bond Transfer for several major Canadian financial institutions.

Dr. Holmes holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Southern Queensland, a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of British Columbia, a Master of Arts in Philosophy (Ethics) from the University of Waterloo, and undergraduate degrees in Economics and Philosophy, also from Waterloo. He holds the Fellow (FCG) and Accredited Director (Acc.Dir) designations from the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada and the Institute Accredited Director (ICD.D) designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors of Canada. Holmes is also a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA, CGA) and a Chartered Human Resource Professional (CHRP).

Holmes has served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada, on the Board of Directors of the Minerva Safety Council of Canada, on the Boards of Governors of Royal Roads University and the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, and as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee on the Board of Directors of NAFSA: The Association of International Educators.
