The Chartered Governance Institute (CGI)

The Chartered Governance Institute of Canada is a division of The Chartered Governance Institute (CGI), formerly known as the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA). The Chartered Governance Institute is the premier global qualifying organisation for professionals aspiring to become a Chartered Secretary and/or Chartered Governance Professional and qualifies people who have roles as company secretaries, governance advisers, risk managers, compliance managers, and more.

The Chartered Governance Institute is an international body, with over 30,000 members living and working in over 80 countries. Its nine divisions worldwide support membership and qualifying students through its international qualifying scheme.

The Chartered Governance Institute has developed FAQs for any questions you may have regarding the Institute’s new global positioning, identity, and the related changes that have come into effect from September 2019.

The CGI Global Passport

A global passport that lets members enjoy the privileges of membership of any Division of The Chartered Governance Institute.

Do you need to get up to speed on what is happening across the globe? Do you need to know about regulatory requirements or the latest governance trends in jurisdictions other than your own?

If so…then as a member of The Chartered Governance Institute you can now access all of the intellectual property, seminars, workshops, journals and more from any part of our global network.

The new CGI Global passport program gives you access to all of our network of Divisions.

It is easy to apply and get started.

  1. Download the terms and conditions and application form here.
  2. Fill it in, scan and email it to your home Division for verification.
  3. When verification is completed, email it to the membership officer of the Division that you are applying to by clicking on the relevant link below. It’s that easy!
  4. The Division you are applying to should reply to you within 3 business days on any next steps
