CGIC | DEAP Facilitators
Overview
The Chartered Governance Institute of Canada (CGIC) is seeking independent contractors with subject matter expertise to deliver engaging, high-quality sessions for the Directors Education and Accreditation Program (DEAP). As a Facilitator, you will support the learning journey of senior professionals and aspiring board directors through dynamic session delivery and learner assessment.
This role offers flexible, project-based work with the potential for recurring engagements, both virtual and in-person.
CGIC requires subject matter experts in the following areas:
- Governance
- Finance
- Risk Management
- Strategy Development
All facilitators must meet the following essential qualifications to be considered:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required and cannot be substituted with experience alone.
- 3–5 years minimum experience in facilitation, executive education, adult learning, or coaching.
- Demonstrated expertise in the subject area(s) as they relate to board governance and director leadership.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and group facilitation skills.
- Proficiency with virtual tools such as Zoom, and familiarity with learning management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications are considered strong assets:
- Prior experience working with or on Boards of Directors.
- Certification with the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada (CGIC).
- Deep understanding of adult learning methodologies and executive education best practices.
- Proven ability to adapt facilitation style to suit diverse learning needs and engagement levels.
Key Deliverables
Before the Session:
- Review program materials, including the slide deck and study guide, in advance of the session.
- Customize and refine content to enhance participant engagement while maintain CGIC branding.
- Be prepared to lead an engaging learning experience, ensuring engagement of adult learners.
During the Session:
- Deliver dynamic training sessions using CGIC’s online learning platform and materials.
- Facilitate engaging and interactive sessions using established DEAP program curriculum.
- Facilitate discussions, activities, and case studies that promote practical application of concepts.
- Respond to participant inquiries, ensuring a respectful and inclusive environment.
- Monitor participant engagement and adjust strategies as needed.
After the Session:
- Evaluate and grade participant assessments, which include True/False questions and short answer responses.
- Submit all graded assessments to the Education Coordinator.
- Provide insights and recommendations for continuous program improvement.
Engagement Format & Travel
Most sessions are delivered virtually. However, some closed sessions through CGIC partnerships may require in-person delivery. Travel may include destinations across Canada, the Caribbean, and the Cayman Islands. Facilitators should be prepared to adapt delivery methods to suit both formats.
Independent Contractor Requirements
To be eligible for engagement, facilitators must:
- Enter into a contractual agreement with CGIC that outlines scope, compensation, confidentiality, and deliverables.
- Operate as an independent contractor (not an employee of CGIC).
- Be legally entitled to work as a contractor in their province or country of residence.
- Be registered for self-employment or incorporated, with the ability to invoice for services rendered.
- Provide their own equipment, workspace, and internet access for virtual delivery.
- Be responsible for all applicable taxes and withholdings related to their income.
