CGIC | IQP Examiners
Overview
The Chartered Governance Institute of Canada (CGIC) is seeking independent contractors with subject matter expertise to deliver engaging, high-quality sessions and evaluate exams for the International Qualifying Program (IQP). As an examiner, you will play a key role in supporting the learning journey of senior professionals and aspiring governance leaders through dynamic session delivery and rigorous learner assessment.
This role offers flexible, project-based work with the potential for recurring virtual engagements.
CGIC requires subject matter experts in the following areas:
- Corporate Law
- Corporate Governance
- Corporate Compliance and Administration
- Interpreting Financial and Accounting Information
- Risk Management
- Boardroom Dynamics
- Development of Strategy
All facilitators must meet the following essential qualifications to be considered:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required and cannot be substituted with experience alone.
- 3–5 years minimum experience in facilitation, executive education, adult learning, or coaching.
- Demonstrated expertise in the subject area(s) as they relate to board governance and professional leadership.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and group facilitation skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain detailed records of exam results and learner progress.
- Proficiency with virtual tools such as Zoom, Prolydian, and familiarity with learning management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications are considered strong assets:
- Prior experience working as a Corporate Secretary or Governance Professional.
- Certification with the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada (CGIC).
- Prior experience in adapting or localizing content from international sources.
- Deep understanding of adult learning methodologies and executive education best practices.
- Proven ability to adapt facilitation style to suit diverse learning needs and engagement levels.
Key Deliverables
IQP Examiners will be responsible for the following:
Live Webinar Facilitation
- Review program materials, including the slide deck and study guides, in advance of the webinars.
- Customize and refine content to enhance participant engagement while maintain CGIC branding.
- Deliver six (6) live, interactive one-hour webinars per session to review chapter content and answer participant questions.
- Facilitate an inclusive and engaging learning environment tailored to adult learners.
- Be available to answer participant questions live during the webinars, or via email afterward, as required.
Exam Evaluation and Reporting
- Evaluate and grade candidate exams, which may include short-answer and essay-style responses.
- Include clear commentary within the exam documents to explain how marks were awarded and where marks were missed.
- Complete and submit and examiner report along with all graded assessments to the Education Coordinator.
- Maintain consistency and fairness in marking, adhering to CGIC’s academic policies.
Program Development (as required):
- Develop assignments aligned with course learning objectives to assess content mastery.
- Adapt and localize UK-based exam materials to ensure relevance and accuracy within the Canadian context.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to support ongoing improvement of course materials and learner outcomes.
Engagement Format
Independent Contractor Requirements
To be eligible for engagement, facilitators must:
- Operate as an independent contractor (not an employee of CGIC).
- Be legally entitled to work as a contractor in their province or country of residence.
- Be registered for self-employment or incorporated, with the ability to invoice for services rendered.
- Provide their own equipment, workspace, and internet access for virtual delivery.
- Be responsible for all applicable taxes and withholdings related to their income.
- Enter into a contractual agreement with CGIC that outlines scope, compensation, confidentiality, and deliverables.
