Membership with the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada (CGIC) must be maintained to ensure the use of your certification and post-nominals. CGIC bylaws state that members who fail to pay their membership fees within six months after the date fixed for payment will be struck from the membership register. Once removed, they are required to apply for re-election and/or settle the outstanding subscriptions plus a reinstatement fee should they want to reinstate their membership.

The following fees will be applied for the re-election of an ex-member with defaulted payments:

• The current year's membership fee
• The membership fee from the year that the member was struck from the roster
• Application fee

Members holding certification:

Certified members who renew within 2 years of expiration will be charged the current year’s membership, one additional year, and an administration fee of $100.

Individuals expired for over 2 years; They will be charged the current year’s membership, one additional year, and an administration fee of $100. ACG (or ACIS) and FCG (or FCIS) members must also complete an application for reinstatement which will be reviewed by the Governance and Admissions Committee. please contact the office to discuss your situation.

Graduate Members:

GraduateMembers who renew within 2 years of expiration will be charged the current year’s membership, one additional year, and an administration fee of $100.

Individuals expired for over 2 years; they will be charged the current year’s membership, one additional year, and an administration fee of $100. They must also complete an application for reinstatement which will be reviewed by the Governance and Admissions Committee.

Candidate Members:

Candidate-members who renew within 2 years of expiration will only be charged the current year’s membership fee.

Those expired over 2 years will be charged the current year plus an additional administration fee of $100.
