The Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange, as a part of its 20th-anniversary celebrations, is continuing to demonstrate its commitment to good governance and has teamed up with Perfect Balance Consulting to launch a program of monthly webinars, the ECSE-PBC Governance CPD Webinar Series. The webinars will be delivered by experienced and influential global practitioners on current governance topics that are specifically designed to support your professional development. Each webinar will be reviewed for quality and accredited by the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada for CPD purposes.
Lasting between 60-90 minutes, these webinars also allow for your continuing education to take place in an easy and convenient manner and at a minimal cost. There will also be an opportunity to connect with our webinar tutors for continuing guidance and support after each session. Our webinars are designed to give a governance overview that applies to professionals across a range of disciplines, ranging from directors, CEOs, compliance, risk, financial and operating officers, in fact, any executive or management function that works with the Board or governance function.

The role of the modern Corporate Secretary extends far beyond traditional activities around managing meetings and writing minutes. And, even in those two areas best practices and technology are evolving to keep the modern Corporate Secretary on his or her toes.
The modern Corporate Secretary’s role should encompass the full range of an organization’s governance programs, focusing on adding value for the organization through enhancing director effectiveness.

In this session, we will take a deep dive into the modern twists that abound for this most-trusted advisor to the Board on all governance-related matters. We will explore specific ways in which the modern Corporate Secretary can apply best practices in the following areas:
- Developing continuous improvement tools and tracking
- Developing foundational governance documents
- Latest developments in meeting management and minutes
- Improving board materials
- Electronic tools to organize and communicate with directors
- Enhancing directors’ value throughout their tenure, from before they step onto the board to when they leave, focusing on recruiting, orienting, educating, evaluating and removing directors
- The evolution of reporting practices
- The critical role as the communication hub, the role’s top jobs, soft skills and key characteristics, including the number one quality needed by the modern Corporate Secretary
