2026 Lifetime Member
The Meritorious Service Award is presented to recognize exemplary service to The Chartered Governance Institute of Canada. It is the highest honour bestowed within the Canadian Division. This year’s recipient is:
Ingrid Stefancic, FCG, Acc.Dir (Quebec) is being recognized for her exceptional and sustained commitment to the governance profession and to The Chartered Governance Institute of Canada. Over her 28 year career at LOGISTEC Corporation, she led all legal and governance functions with integrity, accountability, and ethical leadership, while also contributing significantly to the broader community through board service and professional education. Her more than 12 years of dedicated service to CGIC – including roles as President, Vice President, Secretary, Past President, and Chair of key committees – has strengthened governance frameworks, modernized policies, and fostered a more collaborative board culture. Through her leadership, mentorship, and unwavering dedication, she has made a lasting impact on the Institute and the governance profession in Canada.
2026 Distinguished Professional
The Distinguished Professional Service Award was established in 1955 to recognize outstanding contributions to the governance profession. This year’s recipient is:
Chafika Eddine, FCG (British Columbia) is being recognized for her exceptional leadership in advancing the governance profession through thought leadership, education, and practical innovation. A long standing and engaged member of CGIC, she has contributed meaningfully to professional development by delivering high impact webinars, developing new learning content, and championing governance as a driver of resilience and long term value. Her work – grounded in more than 25 years of international experience and supported by ongoing doctoral research – brings forward‑looking frameworks that integrate governance, risk, sustainability, and stakeholder engagement. Through her global influence, published research, and commitment to mentoring and inclusion, Chafika continues to elevate governance standards nationally and internationally.
2026 Outstanding Branch Member
Introduced in 2018, the Outstanding Branch Member Award recognizes members whose contributions within their Branch are both significant and noteworthy. This year’s recipient is:
Randhir Mehrotara, ACG, Acc.Dir. (British Columbia), Chair of the BC Branch, is being recognized for his collaborative leadership, initiative in planning and organizing high quality networking events, and consistent commitment to supporting CGIC. His welcoming approach, reliability, and strong work ethic make him a highly deserving recipient of the Outstanding Branch Member Award.
2026 Rising Stars
Introduced in 2017, the Rising Star Award recognizes members who have demonstrated significant career potential within the first five years of achieving Associate Chartered status. The award may be presented at any stage of a member’s career path. This year’s recipients are:
Alejandra Hincapie, ACG (British Columbia) is being recognized for her outstanding contributions to corporate governance at Endeavour Silver Corp., where she has strengthened governance frameworks, modernized board policies, and led key initiatives in ethics, ESG, and risk oversight. Her multidisciplinary expertise, commitment to governance excellence, and international perspective distinguish her as an emerging leader shaping the future of governance in Canada.
Ayetu Ayoade, ACG (Ontario) is being recognized for her rapid advancement and growing expertise in contract management, governance, and sustainability, as well as her significant professional achievements and certifications since joining CGIC in 2024. Her impactful work in vendor compliance and relationship management at Toronto Community Housing Corporation further demonstrates her leadership, strategic capability, and commitment to excellence in the governance profession.
Oma Maharaj, ACG (Trinidad and Tobago) is being recognized for exemplifying business minded governance and agile leadership, particularly through her ability to influence portfolio level strategy in alignment with organizational and shareholder objectives. She consistently demonstrates maturity beyond her years, paired with a commitment to learning and knowledge sharing that elevates every professional interaction.
Rakesh Sehgal, ACG (Ontario) is being recognized for his strong governance expertise, rapid professional advancement, and meaningful contributions to board and regulatory processes at ivari. His disciplined judgment, technical proficiency, and collaborative leadership demonstrate clear potential for continued impact within the governance profession.
