The Chartered Governance Institute of Canada Partners with SkillsWave

Partnership Expands Access to Governance Learning and Professional Accreditation for Current and Aspiring Board Leaders

[OTTAWA, ONTARIO, July 21, 2026] – SkillsWave and The Chartered Governance Institute of Canada (CGIC), Canada’s leading organization for governance education and professional accreditation, today announced a strategic partnership that will expand access to governance education and internationally recognized professional accreditation for current and aspiring board leaders.

Through this partnership, SkillsWave will help organizations strengthen governance capability by providing access to CGIC governance education and accreditation programs including the Directors’ Education and Accreditation Program (DEAP). The program prepares governance professionals, executives, senior advisors and aspiring directors for board leadership roles and leads to the internationally recognized Accredited Director (Acc. Dir.) designation.

“Organizations increasingly recognize that strong governance and leadership practices are directly linked to resilience, accountability, and long-term performance,” said Nick Oddson, President of SkillsWave. “We’re excited to partner with The Chartered Governance Institute of Canada to help organizations build clear pathways for developing board-ready leaders. By connecting recognized credentials with organizational priorities, we can help employers strengthen leadership readiness and organizational effectiveness.”

CGIC has been advancing governance excellence in Canada for decades through professional education, internationally recognized accreditation and thought leadership.  Its programs equip current and future directors with the knowledge, skills and ethical foundations required to govern effectively in an increasingly complex business environment.

“The demand for highly skilled directors and governance professionals continues to grow as organizations face increasing regulatory expectations, stakeholder scrutiny and strategic complexity,” said Brock Olive, Director of Education at The Chartered Governance Institute of Canada. “Our partnership with SkillsWave expands access to governance education and provides more professionals with a structured pathway to board leadership and the internationally recognized Accredited Director designation. Together we are helping organizations strengthen governance, enhance board effectiveness and build leadership capacity for the future.”

Together, CGIC and SkillsWave are making it easier for organizations to invest in governance capability by connecting learners with pathways that support stronger governance, effective succession planning, informed decision making and long term organizational resilience.
