
Dr. Sterling Frost, O.R.T.T., DBA, MBA, FCG, Acc.Dir.
Professor of Practice Dr. Sterling K. Frost is an accomplished governance, banking and human capital leader with more than four decades of international experience across North America, Latin America and the Caribbean. His career reflects a unique blend of strategic leadership, operational excellence and board level governance in complex, highly regulated, multijurisdictional environments.
He served as Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer – Operations and Administration at First Citizens Group, with responsibility for a broad portfolio including legal, compliance and governance, information technology, human capital, brand and marketing, operations, shared services and strategic planning. Earlier in his international career, Dr. Frost served as Director of Human Resources for Citibank Latin America, supporting operations across multiple countries and contributing to global HR strategy and leadership development. He also held senior directorships at Citibank (Trinidad & Tobago) Limited, Banco Citibank Honduras, Cititarjetas de Nicaragua and Banco Citibank Panama.
Dr. Frost currently serves as Deputy Chairman of First Citizens Group and its subsidiaries and affiliates with regional oversight spanning banking, investment, trustee, brokerage and financial services operations in Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, St. Lucia and Costa Rica.
His governance expertise extends across multiple sectors. He has served on the boards of companies in energy, manufacturing, utilities and beverages, including Angostura Holdings Limited, Trinidad Distillers Limited and St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited. In the public sector, he has served as Deputy Chairman of the Public Service Commission and currently serves as Deputy Chairman of the Statutory Authorities Service Commission of Trinidad and Tobago. His philanthropic leadership includes chairing the Angostura Foundation, the First Citizens Foundation and currently the Foundation for the Enhancement and Enrichment of Life (FEEL).
A respected academic and educator, Dr. Frost currently serves as Professor of Practice in Management Studies at The University of the West Indies (UWI), where he has taught as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer for over two decades. He has designed and delivered more than 25 undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education programs focused on leadership, strategy and organizational development. He is the author of Calibrating Organizational Culture: A Dialectical Model Towards Competitive Advantage, a landmark publication offering a framework for aligning organizational culture, knowledge sharing and performance. He also chairs several academic and advisory boards at The UWI including the Development and Endowment Fund Board, the Global Institute for Climate-Smart and Resilient Development Advisory Board, the Faculty of Social Sciences Advisory Board and the Institute for Gender and Development Studies Advisory Board. He previously served as a Director of the UWI Mona School of Business and Management.
In the diplomatic sphere, Dr. Frost serves as Honorary Consul of Costa Rica to Trinidad and Tobago promoting bilateral cooperation and regional engagement.
He has been a longstanding contributor to the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada, serving on the Audit and Risk Committee, the Examination Assessment Review Panel and the Governance and Admissions Committee. His appointment as President of CGIC reflects his deep commitment to professional governance standards and leadership development across the region.
Dr. Frost holds both a Master’s and a Doctorate in Business Administration from The University of the West Indies. He is an Accredited Director and Chartered Secretary with the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada, a certified Executive Coach by the University of California, Berkeley and a Prosci certified Change Practitioner.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to banking, education and public service, Dr. Frost has received the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (ORTT) the nation’s highest honour, as well as the Distinguished Fellowship Award from the Institute of Banking and Finance of Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr. Frost is widely respected for his ability to bridge governance, strategy and execution with a leadership style grounded in integrity, service and transformation.
